Mission LIFE – Lifestyle for Environment reaches a global audience

Mission Life witnessed a large level of participation
India hosted a pavilion titled Mission LIFE – Lifestyle for the Environment from 6th to 17th November 2022 at COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh. In order to convey the message of LiFE through a variety of audio-visual effects, logos, 3D models, set-ups, décor and side events, the Pavilion had been designed to help convey the message.
In the pavilion of the COP 27 a wide line of side events under Mission Life were held throughout the entire duration of the conference. It was organized by the Central Government Ministries, the State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, autonomous bodies/subordinate organizations, think tanks and UN organizations. A total of 49 side events were held at the pavilion. Of these, 16 events were organized by the Central Government, whereas 10 events were organized by the State Governments. There were also 23 events held by the private sector at the pavilion as well.
The inauguration of Mission Life at the pavilion was conducted by the Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change on 6th November. A UNDP & UNICEF event was held to distribute the awards for the COP 27 Young Scholars Award, following the presentation of the awards. In order to receive this award, four Young Scholars were selected after a rigorous selection process. As part of the day’s programs, Teenagers and Children were also encouraged to get involved in activities that promoted the propagation of an eco-friendly and sustainable way of life and to showcase their involvement.
Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav formally unveiled India’s Long term Low emission development Strategy (LT-LEDS).S The Minister also released the Lead IT Summit Statement as part of the Indian Pavilion at the Summit and handed over a detailed document on Mission LiFE “Prayas se Prabhav tak”. Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ms. Leena Nandan also took part in a number of side events as well.
These included a DST event on Technology Needs Assessment TERI’s Long Term Strategy on Adaptation & Adaptation Readiness.
Around 2000 participants participated in the side events that took place over the course of the 12 days of the conference.
There was an estimated footfall of around 25,000 COP participants at the pavilion during the event. A display about India’s technologies and achievements in the field of Climate Change, along with a display about Indian culture, textiles and food, enthused the visitors in the India PaviliIn particular, the young participants at the COP participated enthusiastically at the Block Printing activity that was planned at the pavilion. COP.
Through the displays, activities, and distribution of LiFE badges and booklets to visitors to the pavilion, the pavilion spread the message of Life.
